Typical College Gal

Easter weekend, my cousin invited me to Caribbean Day at her school. I knew it was supposed to be cloudy and a little more on the cool side. I was scrambling to find an outfit, but had no luck. I gave up on the idea of wearing jeans because I could not find any suitable shirts, so I looked in my legging drawer. I found these taupe colored leggings and surprising found an oversized t-shirt the same color. The only monochrome looks I have done were all black, so I was a little skeptical about this outfit at first. I decided to pair it with my longline olive bomber jacket because the jacket is not too heavy and it complements the taupe extremely well. I wore my favorite sneakers, my Adidas Superstars and a black choker with my new sunglasses. For a final touch, I tied my XL t-shirt into a knot and made it into a cropped t-shirt. I like the feeling of being somewhat covered, so I only tied it because I had a long jacket overtop. This is how you take basics from your wardrobe and make them look not so basic! Comfy, yet stylish.

American Heart Association Red Dress Event

fashion

I’ve never blogged about the work I do as a designer since this is my personal style blog. However, today is an exception! I created a red evening gown to raise awareness for women with heart disease for one of my classes. Heart disease is the number one killer in women. My dress made it into the competition, as well as my school’s annual fashion show. To the event, I went with the red theme and wore a burgundy outfit. I found this really cool asymmetric bodysuit and paired it with a burgundy pencil skirt. I wore a tightly fitted blazer with black heels. As a statement piece, I wore a gold necklace and matched it with a thick bracelet. Finally, I put on my favorite hippie by Colourpop, LAX. It is the perfect maroon tone and it complements my skin very well. I felt this look was so easy to create and very classy and mature, which is what is was going for.

Street Festival, Streetstyle

fashion

The beginning of spring is awesome for a number of reasons- good weather, good vibes, and good food! I wore this outfit to a food truck festival Philadelphia. I wore sneakers to be as comfortable as possible and this was the perfect time to break-in my new pair of Vans. Black and white sneakers are a must-have in your wardrobe! They are great for everyday wear and you can wear them with anything. I went with a somewhat androgynous look- I wore ripped boyfriend jeans with a black and white plaid shirt, paired with a ribbed bodysuit and my favorite faux leather jacket. This is perfect for 70 degree weather because you can cover your arms once the day progresses and the temperature drops. I added the jacket for aesthetic purposes- it’s wasn’t even needed since I had my plaid shirt. I wore a pair of sunglasses I bought during the festival to go with this biker chic look.

Simple Streetstyle

So I have a confession…I have a new obsession with bomber jackets! I have collected them in multiple colors and this was my first time wearing this nude one. I attended a fashion networking event in my hometown and I decided to go with a laid back look, like always. I wore my new light wash highwaisted skinnies with a tied ribbed crop top (yes, it came already tied permanently). These are one of the most comfortable jeans I own. I matched my favorite pair of booties with my bomber, because as you dolls know, I am obsessed with color blocking! I love the nude and olive color together and they are becoming my favorite color combo. To finish this simple look, I wore a brown snakeskin choker with silver spikes.

Business Casual

As you dolls know, I am a all-out neutrals gal. It is very rare that I wear an outfit that does not include black. This day, I got my fashion design portfolio reviewed by design companies. The only issue was that I left my dress pants at home. However, there are always ways around this. Putting a blazer on took this look from casual to business casual. Yes, my jeans are a tad tight for business attire, but the longline blazer compensates for it. I put on my favorite silver necklace and these stylish color block booties I bought from Primark. Adding the gray and black booties added more depth to the look- the black becomes less overpowering. I would not recommend this look for an interview, but it could definitely work for a  meeting or day when you want to look professional, yet fashionable and a little more on the casual side. I wore my hair in a sleek bun versus my fro to look even more professional, and kept my makeup on the simple side by adding a nude lip color.

A Day in the City

Another beautiful day in the winter! I went to NYC last week and the weather was beautiful. I visited Global Brands Group and got a tour of the showrooms they have. I decided to go with a look that was casual, but not TOO casual. I wore a mock neck ribbed gray shirt with my ultra high waisted black skinnies from Fashionnova. I wore my faux leather jacket because I knew the temperature would drop later in the day. I also carried my black tote bag, which was lightweight and easy to carry around. Of course, I wore my Adidas Superstars. If you don’t own a pair of these, they are a must! I was comfortable all day, while still looking semi professional.

Spring in the Winter

fashion

70 degree weather in the middle of February?! Hi loves! I could not resist putting on my new pair of boyfriend jeans and cap for this beautiful day in the middle of winter. I wore a ribbed white top, my favorite sneakers of course, and a pink bomber with a pink hat to add color. To add even more color, I wore this olive green purse for the first time. This is such a simple and laid-back look, but this was also a little out of my comfort zone because I’m an “all black everything” type of gal. I felt so girly and I felt this outfit went well with the beautiful weather. I also wore this as I was traveling from Atlantic City to Philly, so it was perfect for the car ride. To make things even better, the jeans and shirt were only $10 and this heavy duty bag was only $14! Such a steal!
