Business Casual

As you dolls know, I am a all-out neutrals gal. It is very rare that I wear an outfit that does not include black. This day, I got my fashion design portfolio reviewed by design companies. The only issue was that I left my dress pants at home. However, there are always ways around this. Putting a blazer on took this look from casual to business casual. Yes, my jeans are a tad tight for business attire, but the longline blazer compensates for it. I put on my favorite silver necklace and these stylish color block booties I bought from Primark. Adding the gray and black booties added more depth to the look- the black becomes less overpowering. I would not recommend this look for an interview, but it could definitely work for a  meeting or day when you want to look professional, yet fashionable and a little more on the casual side. I wore my hair in a sleek bun versus my fro to look even more professional, and kept my makeup on the simple side by adding a nude lip color.

Penn’s Landing

Ever wonder what to wear on a hot day spent by the ocean or river? I wore this outfit on a hot day at Penn’s Landing. No matter how hot it is outside, it will always be breezy by a body of water, especially when the sun starts to set. Personally, I find jeans are more comfortable than wearing shorts or a dress. I don’t have to worry about my legs being cold or pulling an accidental “Marilyn Monroe”-one of a woman’s biggest fears when wearing a skirt or dress that the wind will blow it up in the air. The jeans of my choice for this were my mom jeans. These are the most comfortable pair of jeans I own, especially when doing laid back activities. I paired it with a mock turtle neck tank and my favorite sneakers, which is something else to keep in mind.  It may also be a good idea to wrap an oversized shirt or sweater around your waist in case you get cold- I happened to leave mine in the car. No matter where you are going, always think about your comfort. Add your favorite purse and pair of sunnies and you’re good to go!

Boho Chic

For this bohemian chic look, I wore a tribal printed open-back dress. I styled it with triangle earrings and chestnut colored gladiator sandals. The detailed print and trim on the  dress add a boho flair, while the open back adds edge. Open backs are trending and they add so much fun- you can wear a lace bralette or use the open back to add a pop of color. I usually wear a lace navy blue bra with this dress, but of course I couldn’t find it. The bell sleeves also add to the boho theme. This dress is very breathable and comfortable, even in 90 degree weather! To top off the look, gladiator sandals scream boho vibes. Not only are the stylish and trending, but they are comfortable as well. They also have small triangle cutouts on them, which adds even more detail. Finally, I had my hair in two French braids to complete the look (there will be more details on hair and makeup in my next post). French braids are in again and this look was the perfect opportunity to wear them.
