Typical College Gal

Easter weekend, my cousin invited me to Caribbean Day at her school. I knew it was supposed to be cloudy and a little more on the cool side. I was scrambling to find an outfit, but had no luck. I gave up on the idea of wearing jeans because I could not find any suitable shirts, so I looked in my legging drawer. I found these taupe colored leggings and surprising found an oversized t-shirt the same color. The only monochrome looks I have done were all black, so I was a little skeptical about this outfit at first. I decided to pair it with my longline olive bomber jacket because the jacket is not too heavy and it complements the taupe extremely well. I wore my favorite sneakers, my Adidas Superstars and a black choker with my new sunglasses. For a final touch, I tied my XL t-shirt into a knot and made it into a cropped t-shirt. I like the feeling of being somewhat covered, so I only tied it because I had a long jacket overtop. This is how you take basics from your wardrobe and make them look not so basic! Comfy, yet stylish.

A Day in the City

Another beautiful day in the winter! I went to NYC last week and the weather was beautiful. I visited Global Brands Group and got a tour of the showrooms they have. I decided to go with a look that was casual, but not TOO casual. I wore a mock neck ribbed gray shirt with my ultra high waisted black skinnies from Fashionnova. I wore my faux leather jacket because I knew the temperature would drop later in the day. I also carried my black tote bag, which was lightweight and easy to carry around. Of course, I wore my Adidas Superstars. If you don’t own a pair of these, they are a must! I was comfortable all day, while still looking semi professional.

Fall Neutrals

img_5818img_5821img_5825I wore this  outfit to class. I wanted to keep it simple, as always, but I also wanted to be a little less casual than usual. I decided to go with an all black outfit- my holy grail. The top is a simple long sleeved V neck and the ankle-length pants are Zara, but I bought them at a local thrift shop. They are slightly high waisted and have a lot of stretch to them, which I love. Also, they are ankle length, but I rolled them up to show off the booties. For a pop of color, I added my longline olive bomber jacket and the most comfortable pair of booties I own. Instead of doing a typical black shoe for this all black look, the tan shoes give more color and interest, and complements the olive jacket very well. Since the weather was descent this day, I rolled my sleeves up a little, which I think looked much better with the rolled up pants.

Get the Look:

Top: This is a basic top which you can find anywhere (H&M, Forever 21, Rainbow). I do not remember where I bought mine. It was probably no more than ($5).

Pants: Zara brand, but purchased at thrift shop ($12)

Longline Bomber Jacket: GoJane ($38)

Camel Booties: Charlotte Russe ($12 on sale)

Chic Biker Style

Being a fashion design major in college is tricky. You want to be comfortable, as you have many studios. However, you also want to be stylish from time to time. For the very first time in a long time I felt like putting on real clothes-meaning no workout clothes or leggings. Plus, it was Halloween so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to channel my inner dark side.  I wore these black acid wash high-waisted jeans. I styled them with a long sleeve black crop top, my favorite faux leather jacket, and these quilted suede over-the-knee boots. As you can see, the individual items are very simple, but when put together they work well and makes it look like I actually put a lot of thought and effort into the outfit. Lastly, I am wearing a suede choker around my neck to add more detail and edge to the look. For a more dramatic look, I added a bold winged eyeliner with a vampy lip.

Penn’s Landing

Ever wonder what to wear on a hot day spent by the ocean or river? I wore this outfit on a hot day at Penn’s Landing. No matter how hot it is outside, it will always be breezy by a body of water, especially when the sun starts to set. Personally, I find jeans are more comfortable than wearing shorts or a dress. I don’t have to worry about my legs being cold or pulling an accidental “Marilyn Monroe”-one of a woman’s biggest fears when wearing a skirt or dress that the wind will blow it up in the air. The jeans of my choice for this were my mom jeans. These are the most comfortable pair of jeans I own, especially when doing laid back activities. I paired it with a mock turtle neck tank and my favorite sneakers, which is something else to keep in mind.  It may also be a good idea to wrap an oversized shirt or sweater around your waist in case you get cold- I happened to leave mine in the car. No matter where you are going, always think about your comfort. Add your favorite purse and pair of sunnies and you’re good to go!
